A Dallas man has died following a water rescue incident at Lewisville Lake on Sunday afternoon. Brendan Mclennan, 20, was retrieved from the water but was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Lewisville Fire Department, Little Elm Police Department, and Denton County Game Warders responded to a report of a possible drowning at Little Elm Beach on the northern shore of the lake. The call came in around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officials stated that Mclennan was in the swim and canoe rental area of Little Elm Beach when he went underwater. Witnesses observed the incident and called 911 after the man failed to resurface.
Crews from the Lewisville Fire Department were able to pull Mclennan from the water. Despite the rescue efforts, he did not survive and was declared dead at a nearby medical facility.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issued a statement regarding the incident. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mclennan’s family and friends during this difficult time," the agency said.
