Little Elm voters will help choose a U.S. House member on Nov. 3, and under the congressional map Texas lawmakers adopted in 2025, the entire town sits inside the 26th District. Republican incumbent Brandon Gill is seeking a second two-year term, and Democrat Steven Shook is challenging him.

The redrawn district is centered on southern and eastern Denton County and also takes in Cooke County and much of Wise County. Census tables the Texas Legislative Council published for the plan place all of Little Elm, The Colony and Aubrey in District 26, along with small shares of Denton, Prosper and Celina.

The U.S. Supreme Court allowed the 2025 map to be used for this year's elections.

Brandon Gill (Republican)

Gill, 32, won the seat in 2024 and defeated Robert Chick in the March Republican primary. In a statement for the Cross Timbers Gazette's candidate guide, he said it would be his "honor to continue representing" the district while "fighting for conservative values and bringing common sense to Washington."

President Donald Trump has endorsed him, and Trump singled Gill out from the stage during Thursday's visit to the Peterbilt plant in Denton, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported.

Steven Shook (Democrat)

Shook, 45, won the Democratic nomination by defeating Ernest Lineberger, the party's 2024 nominee, in the March primary. In his Gazette statement, he said his focus is on lowering health care and prescription drug costs, protecting rural hospitals and strengthening public schools.

His campaign website calls for a step-by-step move to universal health care, expanding Medicare drug price negotiation to all insurance plans, capping out-of-pocket medication costs and protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Other names on the ballot

The Gazette's guide lists Gill and Shook. The nonpartisan Vote-USA candidate directory also shows Libertarian Phil Gray, who ran for the seat in 2024, as a candidate. Voters can confirm every name on their own ballot with the sample ballot lookup on the Denton County Elections Administration website, votedenton.gov.

Voting

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Residents of cities split between districts, such as Denton, Prosper and Celina, should check their voter registration card or sample ballot to see which congressional race they vote in.
