A Late Rally Changes Everything
The Dallas Cowboys overcame a persistent defensive struggle and a deficit that seemed insurmountable late in the fourth quarter to defeat the Houston Texans 34-30. The decisive moment arrived when Dak Prescott found CeeDee Lamb on a 12-yard pass, capping a drive that shifted the momentum entirely.
This victory marks a significant turnaround for Dallas, who entered the contest trailing the score and ultimately escaping with their second win of the season.
A Game of Field Goals and Short Yards
The early portion of the contest was defined by field goals and short-yardage rushing attacks rather than explosive plays. Houston took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 7-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud to Nico Collins, followed immediately by a Brandon Aubrey field goal.
The Texans extended their lead through three separate Ka'imi Fairbairn kicks in the second quarter, pushing the margin to 16-6 at halftime despite Aubrey adding two more for Dallas.
The third quarter saw both teams trade scores. Javonte Williams powered in from 8 yards out to cut the deficit, but Stroud quickly answered with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Collins. Dallas responded with another Williams touchdown, this time from 1 yard out, narrowing the gap to 20-23 heading into the final period.
