Turning Point
The Dallas Stars turned their defensive pressure into offensive results late on Saturday, securing a 3-1 victory against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets. While the first period showcased early dominance by the home squad, the game’s decisive moment arrived in the final frame when Arttu Hyry capitalized on sustained pressure to extend Dallas's lead and seal the win at American Airlines Center.
First Period Dominance
Dallas established control immediately, scoring twice in the opening twenty minutes. Mikko Rantanen opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the season, firing a snap shot past the Columbus netminder. Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson provided the primary assists on the play, giving the Stars an early 1-0 advantage.
The lead doubled shortly thereafter when Thomas Harley scored his first career NHL goal. Utilizing a snap shot technique similar to Rantanen’s earlier strike, Harley found the back of the net with support from Arttu Hyry and Miro Heiskanen. The Stars held a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the second period, where neither team managed to register any goals.
Columbus Responds
The Blue Jackets finally broke through in the third period, narrowing the deficit to one goal. Damon Severson scored his second goal of the season on a snap shot, assisted by Zach Werenski and Kent Johnson. The goal gave Columbus hope as they pushed for an equalizer, but the Stars’ defense remained resilient.
