A Decisive Second Period
The Dallas Stars pulled away in the second period, scoring three consecutive goals to extend their advantage over the San Jose Sharks. This surge proved to be the turning point in the matchup, as the home team built a 4-0 cushion that San Jose never threatened to overcome.
The Stars’ offensive depth was on full display, with different players finding the back of the net at American Airlines Center.
The second period began with Joel Kiviranta scoring his first goal of the game, a snap shot assisted by Oskar Bäck and Radek Faksa. The momentum continued immediately after, as Jamie Benn added to the lead with a snap shot of his own. Jason Robertson provided one of the assists on Benn’s goal.
Robertson then scored on an unassisted wrist shot later in the period. By the time the third period began, the outcome was already decided, with the Stars leading 4-0.
