The recently launched series 'Dutton Ranch,' a sequel to 'Yellowstone,' was filmed entirely across North Texas. The production took place between August 2025 and March 2026, utilizing Dallas and several small towns to represent the fictional town of Rio Paloma in Texas.
Notable filming sites included Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells, Fort Worth, and Boyd, which is approximately 37 miles west of Little Elm, as well as Ferris.
The premiere occurred on May 15, 2026, with the first two episodes released, followed by a weekly rollout of the nine-episode season, concluding on July 3. The show attracted 12.9 million viewers globally in its opening week, marking the largest original series debut for Paramount+. Additionally, the two-episode premiere drew 2.9 million viewers on the Paramount Network, the highest for a cable series since 2023.
The cast features Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles as Beth and Rip, alongside actors such as Ed Harris and Annette Bening. The series was created and produced by Chad Feehan, who also served as showrunner for the inaugural season. Paramount+ has confirmed a second season for 'Dutton Ranch,' though a release date has yet to be announced.
Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program played a role in attracting this production, supporting local businesses through its cash grant system.
