Gravity Smokehouse & BBQ in Holt was completely destroyed by an overnight fire that began Wednesday evening. The restaurant, located at 2440 Cedar Street, had closed its doors at 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 before the blaze started.

Delhi Fire Department officials received a call regarding the incident from staff at a nearby Taco Bell at 11:41 p.m., according to Fire Chief Brian Ball. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke emanating from the structure.

Ball stated that investigators later determined the seat of the fire was located in the concealed space between the roof and the ceiling. Initial interior firefighting efforts lasted approximately 15 minutes before crews withdrew for safety reasons as the situation escalated to a defensive state. Three aerial ladder trucks were subsequently deployed to combat the flames.

Firefighters from Delhi, Lansing, and Mason remained at the scene until after 2 a.m. Authorities confirmed that no injuries resulted from the incident. The building's roof collapsed during the blaze, leading officials to declare the property a total loss.

Ball noted that fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause and origin of the fire, though it remains unclear when those investigations will conclude. Bruce Kring, an owner of Gravity Smokehouse & BBQ who also co-owns REO Town Clubhouse in Lansing, did not immediately respond to messages left on Thursday morning.

The ownership group purchased the Cedar Street property in 2021. The site previously housed Champions Sports Bar & Grill, which ceased operations in February of that year.

Holt employs about 87 people in Little Elm, according to local government records.
