That existing resource is worth reviewing ahead of this week's heavy-rain threat. Little Elm Alerts can deliver time-sensitive information by phone, text and email, including severe-weather and road-closure notices. Residents can choose delivery methods through the town's official notification page.
Denton County is included in a National Weather Service flood watch scheduled from 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, through 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2. All times are Central Daylight Time. The Fort Worth forecast office extended the watch in its 2:15 p.m. Sept. 29 update.
The alert projects 2 to 4 inches of rain across the watch area, with 4 to 6 inches in localized pockets. Slow-moving showers and storms could cause runoff that affects creeks, low-lying areas and low-water crossings.
The watch itself does not confirm a closure in Little Elm or a particular neighborhood's rainfall total. It means flooding is possible during the stated period, so residents should continue checking the Weather Service for later warnings and instructions.
