Ninth-Inning Surge
The Houston Astros erased a two-run deficit in dramatic fashion during the final frame, scoring four unanswered runs to secure a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. The win improved Houston’s record to 53-55, while the Angels fell to 42-65.
With the score at 4-2 in their favor entering the ninth, Los Angeles appeared poised to hold the lead. However, a series of events against pitcher Sam Bachman turned the game around for Houston. Grissom grounded into a fielder’s choice to second base, but Trammell scored on an error by Angels second baseman Grissom.
Allen advanced to third after being called safe at second on another error.
The inning continued with Paredes hit by pitch, driving in Spence. Although the Angels challenged the call, it was upheld. A walk to Wade Jr. brought in Peña, and Alvarez scored on an error by pitcher Bachman as Altuve reached safely. The four-run rally completed the comeback.
Early Angels Lead
Los Angeles established control early, taking a 4-0 lead by the end of the third inning. Neto scored on a sacrifice fly by Schanuel to center field, with Trout advancing to third. Grissom followed with a single to right, scoring Trout and moving Soler to second.
Grissom then homered to left center for his second run of the day. Adell doubled to right, bringing Lowe home.
Houston responded in the fourth inning when Trammell hit a solo home run to center field, cutting the deficit to 4-1. The Astros added another run in the eighth inning as Alvarez singled to left, scoring Peña.
