Yordan Alvarez and Francisco Lindor had provided the Mets’ only run earlier in the game, but the Astros’ offense surged when it mattered most.
Astros Offense Ignites
New York took an early lead in the fourth inning. Francisco Lindor scored on a double by Benge to make it 1-0. However, the Astros answered in the sixth.
Michael Varsho singled to right field, allowing Alvarez and Paredes to score, cutting the deficit to 2-1 with Altuve reaching third. The momentum shifted quickly as Carlos Correa singled to right, driving in Altuve to make it 3-1. Varsho advanced to second base on the play.
These two consecutive singles in the sixth inning proved fatal for the Mets, as they failed to score again in the remainder of the game.

Hunter Brown earned the win for Houston, pitching 6.2 innings while allowing five hits and one earned run. He issued one walk and struck out ten batters. Bryan Abreu recorded a hold, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and no hits.
