Brandon Young delivered a masterful performance on the mound, securing the win for the Baltimore Orioles with seven strong innings of work. Young allowed just five hits and one earned run while striking out seven batters, effectively neutralizing the Houston Astros lineup for the majority of the contest. His outing improved his record to 8-2 for the season.
The Astros’ starter, Hunter Brown, struggled to contain Baltimore’s offense. Brown exited after 4.2 innings, having given up four earned runs on three hits while walking six batters. The hard luck dropped his record to 1-1. Bryan King, Kai-Wei Teng, and Cristian Javier combined for the remaining 3.1 innings, with Teng and Javier both holding the Orioles hitless in their respective appearances.
Key Scoring Moments
Baltimore built its lead in the third inning through aggressive base running and timely hitting. Henderson opened the scoring with a single to left field that drove in Holliday, making it 1-0. Henderson then demonstrated exceptional speed by stealing home, while Alonso advanced to second.
The inning continued with another run scoring on a double by Alvarez that brought Altuve home, extending the lead to 2-1. Although Houston responded briefly, Baltimore’s offense took control in the fifth inning. Taveras singled to left field, driving in both Alonso and Ward to push the score to 4-1.
