Keith Dominates with Three Homers

Colt Keith was the driving force behind Detroit’s offensive explosion, delivering a historic three-home-run performance that dismantled the Houston Astros’ pitching staff. Keith’s power display proved insurmountable for Houston, as the Tigers secured a decisive 9-3 victory at Daikin Park on Tuesday.

Keith’s impact began early in the second inning when he launched a 383-foot homer to right field, extending Detroit’s lead to 2-0. The Tigers’ offense continued to pile on in the third inning, where Keith added another two-run shot to right-center field, measuring 411 feet. This blast, which also scored Spencer Torkelson, pushed the score to 5-0. Keith completed his trio of home runs in the seventh inning with a two-run shot to right field (344 feet), and added a solo homer to left field (347 feet) in the ninth inning to finish with six RBIs.

Tigers’ Offense Explodes in Third

The game’s momentum shifted irreversibly in the third inning. After Keith’s two-run homer made it 5-0, Spencer Torkelson added a solo shot to left field (372 feet) to make it 6-0. The Astros responded briefly in the same inning with two runs. Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer to left field (358 feet), bringing the score to 6-2, and Jose Altuve followed with a solo home run to left-center field (410 feet), making it 6-3.

Detroit’s lead was further secured in the fifth inning when Spencer Torkelson and Andrew Vaughn scored on passed balls by Houston catcher Ramon Laureano, though the official scoring credited the runs to the Tigers’ advancement. The Tigers added another run in the fifth inning on a passed ball by Laureano, making the score 7-3. The final tally of 9-3 reflected Detroit’s consistent pressure throughout the game.

Pitching Performances

Detroit’s bullpen was anchored by Kyle Finnegan, who earned the win (2-0) by pitching a perfect inning with one hit, one walk, and one strikeout. Tyler Holton secured the save with a scoreless inning, striking out two batters. Drew Anderson started for Detroit, pitching 2.2 innings with five strikeouts but allowing two earned runs. Jacob Waguespack pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two earned runs.

For Houston, Kai-Wei Teng took the loss (3-6) after allowing five earned runs on six hits in 3.1 innings, despite striking out nine batters. Steven Okert, AJ Blubaugh, Jayden Murray, and Bryan Abreu also pitched for the Astros, with Murray allowing two earned runs in two innings.

Final Score and Records

The Tigers (30-42) improved their record with the win, while the Astros (33-41) fell to 33-41. The game drew an attendance of 26,632 at Daikin Park.
