A First Half That Defined the Night
The Los Angeles Chargers established control from the opening drive, building an insurmountable lead before halftime against the Houston Texans. Playing as the visiting team at NRG Stadium, Los Angeles capitalized on early offensive efficiency while their opponents struggled to find any rhythm.
The scoring began in the first period when Cameron Dicker connected on a 34-yard field goal, giving the Chargers a 3-0 advantage. Houston responded with their only score of the half, as Davis Mills found Jared Wayne for a 5-yard touchdown pass. With Chris Freeman’s kick successful, the Texans briefly took a 7-3 lead.
However, the momentum shifted decisively in the second quarter. Amar Johnson broke through for a 7-yard rushing touchdown, aided by Cameron Dicker’s extra point. This play pushed the Chargers’ lead to 10-7 at halftime, setting the stage for a decisive second-half performance.
Second Half Dominance and Statistical Gaps
The third quarter saw no change in the scoreboard as both defenses held firm, but Los Angeles added to its cushion early in the fourth period. Amar Johnson recorded his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run, followed by a successful two-point conversion also credited to Johnson. This eight-point swing extended the Chargers' lead to 21-7.
The final scoring play came late in the fourth quarter when DJ Uiagalelei passed to Devonte Ross for a 3-yard touchdown. Cameron Dicker’s subsequent PAT attempt failed, leaving the final score at 27-7.
