Little Elm ISD families have until 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, to recommend currently enrolled students in grades 1–11 for gifted-and-talented screening, according to the district’s published 2026–27 schedule.

The district lists testing for Oct. 5–30 and notification of results for Dec. 4. A recommendation begins the screening process; it does not by itself establish eligibility for gifted services.

Parents, teachers, counselors, peers, community members and students may make recommendations. Families can find the grade-specific screening link and instructions on the district’s Identifying GT Students page. The district says the form is active only during the designated recommendation window.

Kindergarten follows a separate timetable. Its recommendation period runs Jan. 11–22, 2027, with testing Jan. 25–Feb. 12 and results scheduled for Feb. 18. Families with campus-specific questions are directed to their campus administration.

Students identified for the program in elementary grades receive instruction from GT-trained teachers in core subjects and complete a capstone project through the Texas Performance Standards Project. At the secondary level, identified students are grouped in advanced classes taught by GT-trained teachers and also complete a Texas Performance Standards Project.
