Little Elm football has ended a 22-game losing streak that began in October 2023. The Lobos entered their 2026 season with back-to-back winless campaigns, but they have now posted a 3-0 record. This marks the program's first undefeated start since 2021 as they prepare for District 5-6A play.
Head coach Keiston Alexander, who has been with the program for 18 months, attributed the turnaround to a full offseason with a complete coaching staff. He noted that players responded well to the preparation and mental development work conducted during the spring. Alexander emphasized that the team focused on building confidence and toughness alongside skill training.
The Lobos broke their long winless run in their August 28 opener against Arlington Lamar, winning 30-10. That victory came 1,044 days after their last win, which occurred against McKinney Boyd in October 2023. Alexander described the emotional relief of finally celebrating a victory with the players and community.
Following that initial win, Little Elm defeated Mansfield Legacy 42-21 on September 4. They then secured a 31-28 victory over McKinney, a result that marked the first time the Lobos had beaten the Lions since 2007. Alexander pointed to improved depth and performance on the offensive and defensive lines as key factors in these recent successes.
