Target is set to open a new retail location in Aubrey next month, a development that will serve the nearby Little Elm community. The roughly 148,000-square-foot facility, situated at 26550 E. University Drive, will debut in July as one of eleven new stores launching across ten states during that period. This expansion represents the retailer's most significant building initiative in recent years, supported by a $5 billion capital investment plan that also funds over 130 store remodels and additional payroll resources.
The Aubrey site will be Target's 162nd in Texas, following recent openings in Forney and Oak Cliff. It will feature an Apple at Target, a CVS Pharmacy, a Disney store, a Starbucks Café, and Target Optical. Shoppers can utilize Drive Up lanes positioned on the building's side, Order Pickup, same-day delivery via Target Circle 360, and next-day delivery for all of Aubrey. The store will also highlight a food-forward selection of fresh produce, meat, and dairy. Operating hours will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
The opening will bring approximately 200 jobs to the area. Starting wages for team members range from $15 to $24 per hour, depending on the role, with benefits and tuition-free education assistance included. Target currently employs more than 29,000 people statewide and operates seven supply chain facilities in Texas, including a fulfillment center in Dallas and a receive center in Houston. The company plans to open more than 30 stores in 2026 and aims to build over 300 by 2035.
