Little Elm football has reached a 3-0 record for the first time since 2021, snapping a 22-game losing streak. The Lobos achieved this milestone with a 31-28 win over former district rival McKinney in a non-district contest. The victory marks Little Elm’s first over McKinney since 2007.
The game featured a back-and-forth scoring sequence. McKinney took an early 14-9 lead after junior Pierce Gazaway returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. Little Elm responded to hold a 17-14 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, the teams traded scores, with Little Elm junior Sash Suriya running for a 1-yard touchdown to extend the Lobos’ lead to 31-21. McKinney junior TJ Corbett answered with a 2-yard run to close the gap to 31-28.
McKinney recovered a fumble on their subsequent drive but failed to convert a first down, ending their comeback attempt. Suriya finished the game with four touchdowns, 202 passing yards, and 56 rushing yards. Senior Jaylan Finnie contributed five receptions for 103 yards and a score. For McKinney, Corbett rushed for 51 yards and three touchdowns.
In other regional results, Hebron defeated Richardson Berkner 24-23. Senior quarterback Brady Brock threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to junior Jevonyae Broussard just 14 seconds into the game, sparking a 17-0 run. Berkner rallied late, narrowing the deficit to 24-23 with 6:22 remaining after a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown.
However, an interception by Hebron senior Randy Hemphill II on the final drive secured the win for the Hawks.
