Niche has published its comprehensive review of the Little Elm Independent School District, assigning the district an overall grade based on rigorous analysis of U.S. Department of Education statistics and user feedback. The district earned an A in diversity, placing it among the most diverse in Texas, and an A in college preparation. However, it received lower marks in other areas, including a C for teachers and a C minus for administration.

The district serves 8,036 students across pre-kindergarten through 12th grade with a student-teacher ratio of 17 to 1. State standardized test data from the 2024–25 academic year shows that 54 percent of students met proficiency standards in reading, while 41 percent did so in math. The average graduation rate stands at 89 percent.

College entrance exam scores reported by users indicate an average SAT composite of 1090 and an average ACT composite of 25. Individual school ratings within the district vary, with Prestwick Elementary School receiving a B plus and several other elementary schools earning C plus grades. Specific details regarding the district's budget or future policy changes are not yet clear.
