Universal Destinations & Experiences officially opened Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, marking the company’s debut in the regional theme park sector. The facility is designed specifically for children between the ages of 3 and 8, featuring seven distinct zones that showcase popular animated franchises. These areas include DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar, and the Isle of Curiosity, which centers on DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse.
Page Thompson, president of New Ventures for Universal Destinations & Experiences, stated in a press release that the park was built with a focus on young visitors. Thompson noted that the design prioritizes the enjoyment of children, expressing satisfaction with the positive reactions observed during the opening.
The resort includes a 300-room hotel situated at the park entrance, with accommodations capable of housing up to six guests. The property offers various family amenities and dining venues. Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative, described the project as a unique introduction to Universal entertainment for a younger demographic. Murphy emphasized that the park encourages physical activities such as splashing, playing, dancing, and laughing with favorite characters, aiming to help families create lasting memories.
