The Town of Little Elm will begin roadway improvements in the Sunrise Bay neighborhood as part of the 2026 Asphalt Street Maintenance Project. Work includes asphalt replacement, roadway stabilization, and paving improvements on several neighborhood streets. Construction is scheduled to take place in phases from mid-May through early July 2026, weather permitting.
Updated Start Date
An update posted on May 26, 2026, indicates that the Town of Little Elm’s asphalt subcontractor has experienced delays due to recent rainy weather. Milling operations will not begin today as originally scheduled. The updated start date is Monday, June 1, 2026. Residents may still see materials and equipment being staged in the area throughout this week in preparation for construction.
Affected Streets and Access
The following streets are included in the project: Shoreline Drive, Sunrise Bay Point, Sunrise Bay Court, Misty Cove, and Fisherman’s Cove. Construction will occur in phases with temporary traffic impacts expected throughout the project. Only one side of each roadway will be closed at a time to help maintain access. Contractors will provide notifications regarding temporary street or driveway access closures in advance.
Residents will be provided temporary access to their driveways for morning and evening access. There may be times during the day that they cannot access their driveways. On-street parking may be limited or unavailable in active work zones. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and arrange to be away during active work hours or remain at home to minimize disruption.
Project Details
Existing roads will not be widened beyond their current constructed width. Town field inspectors will be on-site daily to monitor progress, document activities, and assist with customer service concerns. Residents are asked to remove any items located within the right-of-way prior to construction to help avoid damage. This includes decorative landscaping, path lighting, and other personal installations located near the edge of the roadway.
Contractors are permitted to begin construction activities at 7 a.m. and are required to finish by 8 p.m. daily. The town expects phase 1A and 1B to be complete within six weeks, and phase 2A and 2B the following six weeks, weather permitting. The Town appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed to enhance roadway conditions throughout the Sunrise Bay neighborhood.
