Suns withstand late push

Luke Kennard scored 20 points, and the Phoenix Suns held off a San Antonio Spurs rally in the fourth quarter for a 102-98 victory Saturday at Mortgage Matchup Center. Phoenix led by 12 entering the final period, then saw San Antonio outscore it 25-17 before the Suns secured the result.

The Spurs closed the gap to four points at the finish. Maliq Brown's 26-foot 3-pointer made the score 98-102, but San Antonio did not get closer.

Phoenix builds an early lead

Phoenix took control in the opening quarter, outscoring San Antonio 35-25. Luke Kennard made three 3-pointers in the period, including a 25-footer, while Jalen Green added a 29-foot 3-pointer and a 22-foot 3-pointer.

San Antonio responded in the second quarter, winning that period 26-23. Dylan Harper made a 25-foot 3-pointer and a driving dunk, and Victor Wembanyama added a 13-foot jumper. The Spurs still trailed 58-51 at halftime.

Suns extend the margin

Phoenix regained ground in the third quarter, outscoring San Antonio 27-22. Kennard made another 25-foot 3-pointer, and Khaman Maluach contributed a 25-foot 3-pointer along with two inside baskets. The Suns carried an 85-73 advantage into the fourth.

Maluach also had 15 rebounds for Phoenix, while Green finished with five assists. For San Antonio, Harper scored 15 points, Wembanyama recorded six assists and Luke Kornet had 10 rebounds.

Records and setting

The game was played Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Mortgage Matchup Center, with an attendance of 17,071. Phoenix improved to 1-2 after the victory. San Antonio fell to 0-2.
