Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway has been cleared by the team’s medical staff to return against Colorado after missing the Sept. 5 game with an ankle injury. The Bears and Buffaloes entered the matchup with 2-1 records, and the game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central at McLane Stadium in Waco.
Nate Bennett will return to the backup role after starting two games. He completed 75% of his attempts for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in those starts, while adding 15 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Coach Dave Aranda had forecast Lagway’s return earlier in the week.
Wide receiver Jadon Porter, defensive back Devin Turner and defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler are also available. Porter and Turner were listed as probable, and Wheeler later moved from questionable to available. Baylor’s unavailable players are safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado ruled out wide receiver Danny Scudero, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and tight end Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have produced 94 combined yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision.
