Jaishawn Barham will take over the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive communication duties when they meet the Washington Commanders in Week 2. Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the rookie linebacker will wear the green dot in the game, with defensive coordinator Christian Parker making the change.
The assignment follows Dallas’ 28-point loss to the New York Giants in Week 1, when the Cowboys had difficulty containing the Giants’ offense. Barham was selected in the third round out of Michigan and will now communicate the defense’s calls while Dallas prepares for Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The Cowboys and Commanders both opened the season with losses to division opponents. Dallas’ offense against Washington’s defense, along with Barham’s performance in his new communication role, are among the developments ahead of the NFC East matchup. Sportingnews.com reported the assignment.
