Abby Vander Wal, an outside hitter for the Texas Longhorns, exited the volleyball match against TCU after sustaining a knee injury during the opening set. The injury occurred during a play on the left side of the court, where she fell and remained down, visibly in pain while holding her knee.
Training staff helped Vander Wal leave the court, as she could not put any weight on her leg. She did not return for the remainder of the set, which the Longhorns won by sweeping TCU. Prior to her injury, Vander Wal had made two kills and her topspin serve contributed to two scoring runs for Texas.
Details regarding the extent of her injury have not yet been disclosed, and the situation is still developing.
