DJ Lagway is preparing to start as Baylor's quarterback in their first game of the season against Auburn, which will take place at a neutral location in Atlanta. Both teams are eager to improve upon last year's performance, as they ended the previous season with matching records of 5-7.

Last season, Baylor's offense was driven by Sawyer Robertson, who accumulated 3,681 passing yards and achieved 31 touchdowns alongside 12 interceptions, finishing with a completion rate of 60.3%. Bryson Washington contributed significantly in the rushing game, totaling 788 yards on 154 carries and scoring six touchdowns. In the receiving department, Josh Cameron excelled with 872 yards from 69 receptions and nine touchdowns.

For Auburn, Jackson Arnold led the offense with 1,309 passing yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions, achieving a completion rate of 63.3%. Jeremiah Cobb was the standout rusher, gaining 969 yards on 175 carries and scoring five touchdowns. Cam Coleman was the leading receiver, amassing 708 yards on 56 catches with five touchdowns.

The matchup in Atlanta serves as a crucial opportunity for both teams to start their seasons on a positive note. Baylor will also host Prairie View A&M on September 12, while Auburn is set to face Southern Miss on the same day.
