Tyler Goodson has been added to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice-squad plans after Israel Abanikanda was waived. Goodson led the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason with 92 rushing yards and produced a 49-yard touchdown run during training camp.
Bijan Robinson praised Goodson in an interview with Blogging The Boys’ RJ Ochoa, calling him an elite player who can cut across the field, catch passes and serve in several ways on offense. Robinson said he wanted Goodson to stay in Atlanta.
Goodson spent camp with the Falcons after playing his first three NFL seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, where he totaled 264 yards and one touchdown on 54 carries. He also had 19 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Dallas made the move while seeking additional backfield depth following Malik Davis’ injury. The Cowboys previously released 2025 selections Phil Mafah and Jaydon Blue late in training camp. Goodson gives the team speed and receiving ability, though Heavy.com reported that his opportunity to play appears limited.
Dallas is retaining him as roster protection while it prepares for Week 2 against the Washington Commanders. The Cowboys lost their opener to the New York Giants and finished with fewer than 100 rushing yards, including 41 from Javonte Williams.
