The Houston Texans will play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday without wide receiver Nico Collins, who has been ruled out because of a hamstring injury. The Grade 1 strain occurred during practice last week, and Collins missed Houston’s loss to Cincinnati. Sports.yahoo.com reported the decision, citing NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The absence will extend Collins’ time away from the Texans to two games. Houston is 0-2 after scoring six points in a 20-6 defeat to the Bengals. Indianapolis also enters the matchup at 0-2, with both teams seeking their first victory.
Dalton Schultz could receive more chances after catching 12 of 14 passes directed to him against Cincinnati for 140 yards. He had eight receptions in the fourth quarter and has totaled 16 catches and 175 yards over two games, both team highs. Houston’s other available wide receivers are Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne.
The Texans may also rely more on their tight ends or running game. Their running backs gained an average of 1.5 yards per attempt against Cincinnati, while Indianapolis has surrendered 354 rushing yards at 5.4 yards per carry. No additional recovery timetable for Collins was provided.
