Israel Abanikanda is no longer on the Dallas Cowboys’ roster, with the team adding Tyler Goodson from the Atlanta Falcons to take his place. The move followed Dallas’ Week 1 game against the New York Giants, which included a 69-yard rushing performance.
Abanikanda appeared in six NFL games, all for the New York Jets during the 2023 season. Before entering the league, the former Pitt running back carried 239 times for 1,431 yards and 20 touchdowns during the 2022 college season. He did not secure a regular role in the NFL before Dallas released him.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said New York’s defensive front disrupted the rushing attack early through penetration, and that Dallas was physically outplayed at the line of scrimmage. Schottenheimer also said Javonte Williams struggled to find openings at the beginning of the game, though the Cowboys made adjustments after halftime. The report was published by sports.yahoo.com.
