Jonathan Bullard is projected to miss three to five weeks with a calf injury, while safety Jalen Thompson is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks because of a hamstring problem. Both injuries occurred during Dallas' first three regular-season games, and Bullard had already been absent for most of training camp because of another injury.
Cornerback Shavon Revel also sustained knee and ankle injuries in the Cowboys' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Revel was improving and might return to practice this week. His availability for the Week 4 matchup against Houston has not been decided.
The Cowboys do not expect Cobie Durant, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, to travel to South Texas. Malik Hooker could require more time after breaking his forearm in the season opener, while DeMarvion Overshown may begin practicing again after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury.
The team has worked out several players, including former Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas, as it addresses its reduced safety depth. Thompson could be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, joining safety P.J. Locke, according to the report. The personnel challenges face first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker as Dallas prepares to visit the Texans, who remain winless.
