Guard Laken Tomlinson is leaving the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad for the Green Bay Packers, a move reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Dallas now has two offensive linemen on its practice squad. The Cowboys are scheduled to visit Green Bay in Week 6, and details about Tomlinson’s role were not provided.
Tomlinson, 34, signed with Dallas earlier this month after All-Pro guard Tyler Smith underwent thumb surgery and was placed on injured reserve. Tomlinson did not appear in either of the Cowboys’ first two games, and his Packers debut date is unclear. Smith can return after Week 4.
Dallas’ remaining practice-squad linemen are Marcellus Johnson, a tackle who has not played in an NFL game, and Wanya Morris, who has lined up at both left and right tackle during his three-year career.
The Detroit Lions chose Tomlinson in the first round of the 2015 draft. He has played 173 games and started 162 across 11 NFL seasons, including a 2021 Pro Bowl campaign with the San Francisco 49ers. His other teams have been the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans, for whom he played 10 games in 2025.
Green Bay has had offensive-line injuries, with Aaron Banks and Zach Bako-Bewele missing Week 3. Bako-Bewele will miss the rest of the season because of a torn patellar tendon. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been sacked eight times, while Pro Football Focus credits Green Bay with allowing 57 pressures through three games.
