Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins could be back for the team’s Week 4 meeting with Dallas, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported. Collins has been ruled out of Houston’s Week 3 game with a hamstring injury, but Schefter said the receiver has a “decent chance” to play against the Cowboys.
Collins appeared in Houston’s season opener, a loss to Buffalo, and finished with seven receptions, 75 yards and a touchdown. Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has guided Houston to the playoffs, including last season, when the team reached the postseason before falling to the New England Patriots.
Dallas is also waiting on its own secondary injury updates. The Cowboys will not have their full group of Cobie Durant, Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke for the Week 3 game against Baltimore in Brazil.
Their status for Houston has not been decided. Dallas is using DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel at cornerback, while Caleb Downs has made an impact. The Cowboys rank 17th in pass defense entering Week 3, giving up 218 yards per game, and the source said the unit has additional work ahead.
The source also raised the possibility of Dallas pursuing Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., but reported no completed trade. No further details on the Cowboys’ Week 4 injuries were provided.
