Houston has increased Trent Brown’s potential 2026 playtime incentives to $2.5 million, up from $1.5 million. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti reported the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
The one-year contract Brown signed during the 2026 offseason is worth $5.5 million. Under the updated package, he can receive $500,000 for each of five playing-time marks: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the additions did not change Brown’s salary-cap charge or his initial cash flow. The new incentives were added to the original agreement.
Brown appeared in eight games for Houston in 2025, including seven regular-season starts and one playoff start, while injuries affected parts of his season. Houston signed Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million deal, but injuries sent Smith to injured reserve and kept him from taking the starting role. Brown stayed with the Texans during the offseason program and opened Week 1 at right tackle.
Pro Football Focus ranked him Houston’s sixth-best pass blocker in Week 1 and the team’s third-highest-rated offensive lineman in that category, behind Aireontae Ersery and Evan Brown. Brown, a 2015 seventh-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, has also played for Cincinnati and Las Vegas.
He has 104 starts in 111 career games, won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, and has not started every regular-season game since 2022. Further details were not provided.
