Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently day-to-day as he deals with an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The decision on Lagway's participation in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M will depend on how he performs in practice this week.

In his debut with Baylor, Lagway completed 27 of 54 passes for 333 yards, scoring two touchdowns but also throwing one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears missed a crucial two-point conversion attempt that contributed to their defeat.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's toughness, noting his ability to play through injury. Golesh remarked on Lagway's resilience, stating, "If you’ve got any question on how tough that kid is... he got banged up early, and that is a tough, tough football player."

Lagway transferred to Baylor after spending two seasons with the Florida Gators, where he was the No. 3 ranked player in his recruiting class. His performance at Florida included 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions last season, amidst challenges that included a game with five interceptions against LSU.

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow suggested Lagway needed a fresh start and expressed optimism about his potential at Baylor. Further updates on Lagway's injury status are pending.
