North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming season opener against Indiana University. This game, taking place at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, marks IU's first regular season match and follows their recent national championship win in January.

Jackson, a Greenwood, Indiana native, has a history with IU, having played there for two seasons from 2023 to 2024. His football journey includes a standout high school career at Center Grove and a stint with the Tennessee football program in 2022.

After his time at IU, he transferred to the University of Central Florida for the 2025 season, where he recorded 2,151 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

In addition to his football achievements, Jackson is the younger brother of former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who plans to attend the game to support him.
