The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defense with the signing of Myles Rowser, a safety who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility rules that permit players from the class of 2022 to gain an additional season if they did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract.
Rowser, who did not redshirt during his freshman year, participated in nine games for the Campbell Camels and attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks. His collegiate career includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, he has amassed 295 total tackles, with notable statistics including 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended.
In the 2025 season, Rowser played in every game for Arizona State, achieving a career-high of 84 tackles. His performance earned him a place on the All-Big 12 Third Team. The Cougars already have a strong safety lineup, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, along with Tulane safety Javion White.
With Rowser's addition, the team may consider adjusting their lineup, potentially moving a safety to nickel corner. This depth positions the Cougars to be competitive in the Big 12.
