The Houston Texans have received encouraging updates on wide receiver Tank Dell's recovery from a significant knee injury. However, general manager Nick Caserio has stressed that the team is not hurrying his return.

Currently on Reserve/Injured with a designation to return, Dell is set to be sidelined for a minimum of four games as he heals from a dislocated kneecap and several torn ligaments sustained in December 2024.

Caserio mentioned that while Dell is making strides, he still must regain his essential speed, which is vital for his playing style. Dell has improved in areas such as quickness and route-running, but the Texans are committed to ensuring he can perform at the necessary speeds for success in the league. His injury required extensive rehabilitation, prompting the team to be careful regarding his readiness.

Before his injury, Dell had become a significant asset for quarterback C.J. Stroud, achieving 98 catches for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns across his initial two seasons. His ability to stretch the field and create opportunities for other receivers is something the Texans are eager to restore.

With Dell out, other players like Boutte and Noel will have the chance to step up and develop their rapport with Stroud, allowing the team to evaluate their offensive needs in Dell's absence. Caserio reiterated that the priority is on Dell's complete recovery rather than a set return date.
