A recent ruling from a Dallas court has allowed 18 college football players, including Ahmaad Moses of SMU, to gain a fifth year of eligibility for the 2026 season. This decision follows the Wisne v. NCAA case from July 31, which allowed athletes who graduated high school in 2022 to have their eligibility extended.
The NCAA's appeal against this ruling has been temporarily overridden by the court's injunction.
Ahmaad Moses, recognized as a First Team All-ACC player in 2025, has played 54 games and started 19 during his time with the Mustangs. He played a crucial role in SMU's achievements, which included winning a conference championship in 2023 and making a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
In the previous season, he led the team with 104 tackles and five interceptions, along with 5.5 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.
Moses had a standout game against Miami (FL), where he achieved a personal best of 15 tackles and intercepted two passes, contributing to a thrilling overtime win. After declaring for the NFL Draft post-2025 season, he encountered a setback due to a herniated disk, which necessitated spinal fusion surgery. This injury has been a factor in his eligibility to return under the ACC's revised rules.
Currently participating in fall camp with SMU, Moses is anticipated to play in the Mustangs' season opener against Florida State on September 7, barring any appeal from the NCAA. He will join a safety lineup that features former teammates and other All-ACC players.
