Tank Dell can earn as much as $3.645 million under a revised contract with the Houston Texans, details reported Sept. 11 show. The agreement was completed last week before Houston’s Week 1 matchup with the Buffalo Bills and adds $1.5 million to Dell’s previous $1.704 million package. That earlier amount consists of a $1.145 million salary plus a $500,000 signing bonus.

The incentives include $300,000 for playing at least 30% of Houston’s offensive snaps. Dell could earn another $300,000 at each 5% increase, up to a 50% snap share. He also is eligible for $38,461 each time he is active for a game.

Dell is on injured reserve with a designation that permits a return, so he will miss at least four games while recovering from a 2024 knee injury involving a dislocation and multiple ligament tears. The Texans’ home game against the Dallas Cowboys is the earliest possible return date, but the timing is unsettled. Dell must first advance to 11-on-11 practice work.

After Houston opens his practice window, the team will have 21 days to activate him. Otherwise, he would remain on injured reserve for the rest of the 2026 season. General manager Nick Caserio said Sept. 1 that Dell was approaching a comeback but still needed to complete more work and rebuild confidence.

Dell later attended the Texans’ 2026 season premiere and was described by Brian “Big Sarge” Barfield as being in good spirits and eager to return. A 2023 third-round pick, Dell joins a receiver group also affected by injuries to Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. Sports.yahoo.com reported the contract details.
