Texas Christian University has officially confirmed that the Northwestern State Demons will be part of its 2028 football schedule. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2028, at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. According to a contract secured via public records request, TCU will pay Northwestern State a guarantee of $600,000 for the appearance.
This contest represents the second time these two programs have met on the gridiron. Their previous encounter took place in 2001, when the Demons defeated the Horned Frogs with a score of 27-24 in overtime. The addition of this game completes TCU's non-conference slate for the upcoming season.
Prior to facing Northwestern State, TCU opens its season at home against Louisiana on August 26. The team then travels to Duke on September 9. While the Big 12 Conference has not yet released specific conference opponents for 2028, TCU is projected to play five home games and four road games that year.
Northwestern State University, which competes in the Football Championship Subdivision as a member of the Southland Conference, is currently led by head coach Blaine McCorkle. The Demons have begun their season with losses to Louisiana Christian and Louisiana Tech. In addition to the TCU game, Northwestern State is scheduled to host Central Arkansas on September 16, 2028.
