Hummel has mainly played special teams and has 150 defensive snaps in his career. The Texans’ available linebackers are Azeez Al-Shaair, Jake Hansen, Jamal Hill, Wade Woodaz and Aiden Fisher. Hill recently moved up from the practice squad.
Woodaz and Fisher, both first-year draft picks, could see expanded roles. Houston could also add or elevate a linebacker. Kenneth Murray, who previously played for Dallas, is on the practice squad but was unavailable against Indianapolis because the team had completed its elevations.
