Nico Collins, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver, will miss the Houston Texans' Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, relying on a league source, said Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring injury and may also miss the next game against the Indianapolis Colts. Houston has brought rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond up from its practice squad for the Cincinnati matchup. It is the Texans' second standard practice-squad elevation for the game, following veteran safety and special-teams player George Odum. Bond has two more such call-ups available before the team must place him on its 53-man roster or select another player.
The Texans drafted Bond in Round 6 of the 2026 NFL draft, using the 204th selection. Houston released him during its cuts to 53 players, then added him to the practice squad. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to play at receiver before Bond.
NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein previously praised Bond's dependable hands and contested-catch ability, while citing difficulty creating separation against press and man coverage. Zierlein said motion or bunch formations might assist his contributions. Bond's specific role against Cincinnati was not provided.
