Karmelo Anthony Found Guilty of Murder in Frisco Track Meet Case

A Collin County jury convicted Karmelo Anthony of murder Tuesday, June 9, in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, CBS Texas reported.

Metcalf was 17. The stabbing happened April 2, 2025, during a Frisco ISD track meet at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, according to CBS Texas.

Anthony, now 19, had been charged in the killing. Prosecutors argued Anthony intentionally stabbed Metcalf during an altercation. Defense attorneys argued Anthony acted in self-defense.

Jurors found Anthony guilty of murder.

Sentencing

The case now moves to punishment. CBS Texas reported that the sentencing range for murder is five to 99 years or life in prison.

ABC News and USA Today also reported the verdict. Dallas Observer reported that Anthony faces sentencing following the conviction.
