Turning Point
The Texas Rangers seized control of their Saturday matchup against the Atlanta Braves when Jake Nimmo delivered a critical two-run single in the sixth inning. With the score tied at 5-5, Nimmo’s hit to center field drove in both Matt Langford and Andrew Velazquez, instantly putting Texas ahead 7-5. That surge proved decisive, as the Rangers held on for a 7-6 victory at Truist Park.
Early Exchange
The game began with offensive firepower from both sides. In the top of the first, the Rangers struck first when Josh Jung homered to right field, measuring 419 feet, to make it 1-0. Atlanta responded in the bottom of the second inning with three runs.
Kyle Schwarber launched a 406-foot home run to left field, and Austin Riley added a single to center that scored Matt Olson, followed by a sacrifice fly by Matt Olson that brought in Olson. The Braves took a 4-1 lead into the third inning.
Texas answered back in the third. Matt Olson singled to left, scoring Jung, and Nimmo followed with a single to right that scored Olson, narrowing the gap to 3-4. However, Austin Riley immediately countered with a 405-foot home run to right, extending Atlanta’s lead to 5-3.
The Braves’ offense remained active in the sixth inning when Olson homered to right (356 feet), scoring Olson to tie the game at 5-5. But Nimmo’s subsequent single shifted the momentum entirely.
