Baldwin, Riley Power Braves Past Rangers 8-5

Baldwin and Riley Lead the Charge

Josh Baldwin and Austin Riley provided the offensive spark Atlanta needed to secure an 8-5 victory over the Texas Rangers. Baldwin finished with a career-high five hits, including two home runs, while Riley added two long balls of his own. The Braves improved their record to 57-41, while the Rangers fell to 50-49.

Early Braves Surge

Atlanta established control early, taking a 4-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning. The scoring began in the first when Harris II hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Baldwin to score. Riley followed with a home run to left field in the second inning, extending the advantage.

Baldwin added to his total with a home run to right-center in the third, and Riley hit his second home run of the game to center field in the fourth.

Rangers Rally in Fifth

The Rangers mounted a comeback attempt in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to narrow the gap to 4-3. Langford doubled to left field, allowing Lopez to score. Jung then hit a sacrifice fly to center, bringing Pederson home. Burger singled to left, scoring Langford and advancing Nimmo to second. Despite the rally, the Braves maintained their lead.

Late Inning Explosion

Atlanta pulled away in the seventh inning with a six-run outburst. Riley singled to center field, driving in two runs. Hicklen then doubled to center, scoring White before being thrown out at home.

The Rangers attempted a late comeback in the eighth inning, with Higashioka doubling to right to score Cauley. However, Baldwin responded with a home run to center field, his second of the day, to restore the five-run margin.

Final Outings

The Rangers scored in the ninth inning when Langford hit a home run to left field, making the final score 8-5. Grant Holmes earned the win for Atlanta, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs. He was supported by Dylan Dodd and Didier Fuentes, who recorded holds.

Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Ben Peoples took the loss for Texas, combining to give up four earned runs. Nathan Eovaldi started for the Rangers but was charged with the loss after four innings of work, allowing six hits and four earned runs.

The game was played at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, with an attendance of 29,856.
