Turning Point
The Tampa Bay Rays seized control of Saturday’s contest against the Texas Rangers with a decisive seven-inning offensive explosion that erased a five-run deficit. After trailing 6-1 entering the frame, Tampa Bay capitalized on a Daniel Díaz grand slam to left-center field (384 feet) to take the lead for good.
The four-run inning proved sufficient, as the Rays held on to win 7-6 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Rangers Early Surge
Texas jumped out to an early advantage, capitalizing on timely hitting and some defensive miscues by Tampa Bay. The Rangers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Leody Taveras homered to center field (419 feet).
They tied the game at 1-1 in the third on a Jonas Sanchez homer to right-center (412 feet), but Tampa Bay reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Adolis García singled home a run.
The Rays extended their advantage significantly in the fifth inning. After starter Kumar Rocker allowed nine hits over five innings, including the earlier damage, the offense piled on runs. A ground-rule double by Ezequiel Durán scored Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
Following that, Wander Franco doubled to left, scoring Durán. The frame continued with a fielding error in center field that allowed Franco to score from second base on a single by Randy Arozarena. Another run crossed the plate when Yandy Díaz grounded into a double play, but the runner from second scored before being thrown out in a rundown at third.
