Heat Breaks with Tropical System
Little Elm’s run of 100-degree days is coming to an end as Tropical Storm Edouard tracks toward the Texas-Louisiana border. According to National Hurricane Center guidance reported by Fox 4, the storm is expected to make landfall in Texas today with sustained winds near 40 mph and possible strengthening before it comes ashore.
As Edouard turns west-northwest and weakens while approaching Central Texas, its influence will finally lower temperatures here.
Current conditions show an air temperature of 88F with a feels-like of 90F. The sky is clear, relative humidity sits at 49%, and the dew point is 66F. Winds are light at 6 mph with gusts to 9 mph. However, heat index values will remain high today, reaching as high as 104.

Today, Little Elm will see a high near 101F before conditions shift. There is a slight chance of rain showers between 1pm and 4pm, followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms later. The low tonight will be near 79F, with temperatures rising to around 82 overnight. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms persists tonight under mostly clear skies.
Tomorrow brings further relief from the peak heat, with a high near 96F. There is a slight chance of rain showers before 7am, followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. The sky will be sunny with an east southeast wind of 5 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. The low tomorrow night will be near 78F.
