Little Elm's biggest Halloween night will not happen this year. The town's Special Events & Tourism Department has canceled A Nightmare Over Little Elm Park: The Trilogy, which was scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, because of the weather expected that evening.

According to the cancellation notice posted on the town's Lakefront Little Elm events site, the forecast calls for rain and wind, and the out-of-state companies hired to stage the drone show and fireworks concluded their shows were unlikely to go on safely under those conditions.

The town said it first looked at keeping the rest of the evening's activities and watching the forecast, but chose to cancel the whole event days in advance instead.

Many of the vendors are local businesses and family-run food trucks that would soon start buying supplies, and the town said it wanted to give them enough notice to avoid losing money on an event that might be scrubbed.

Refunds are automatic

Everyone who bought a ticket will be refunded in full within three to five business days, and ticket holders do not need to do anything, the town said.

The event had been planned for 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Little Elm Park, 701 W. Eldorado Parkway.

The lineup listed a drone and fireworks finale over the lake, trick-or-treating, bounce houses, hayrides, a pumpkin drop from a fire truck, food trucks and vendors, plus two concerts: a sing-along set inspired by the film *KPop Demon Hunters* and a performance by the 1980s tribute band LC Rocks. Both concert listings are now marked canceled as well.

Tickets were sold through Eventbrite and at the gate, with parking listed at $10 a vehicle.

"We are incredibly disappointed, as Nightmare Over Little Elm Park is one of our favorite events of the year," the department wrote, apologizing to residents, visitors, vendors and partners. The notice did not mention a rescheduled date.
