Families with high school students who would be the first in their household to go to college can hear about a free University of North Texas program at the Little Elm Public Library this week.
Staff from UNT's TRIO Upward Bound program will hold an information session from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the library's program room. According to the library's listing, the program serves first-generation students who meet income guidelines, offering academic help, summer programming and support services meant to carry them through high school graduation and into college.
The session is a chance to ask the program's staff questions directly.
Author visit Saturday
On Saturday, Nov. 7, children's author Nancy Churnin will visit from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Town Council chambers at Town Hall, which shares the building with the library. The library describes it as a story about perseverance and kindness.
The visit is supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts. Free tickets will be handed out at the library's front desk starting 30 minutes before the event.
