Health insurance rates for Little Elm's town employees are set to rise 12.41% next year under a renewal the Town Council takes up on its consent agenda Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, the town's health insurer since November 2014, offered that increase for the 2027 plan year after a market analysis and what staff called extensive negotiations, according to the staff report from Director of Employee Experience Deidre Hale. The town's broker, McGriff, a Marsh McLennan agency, negotiates the renewals each year.
Other coverage
Dental coverage, also through Blue Cross since November 2019, goes up 5.4%.
Several other policies carry rate guarantees and will not change in price:
- vision coverage through Superior, the town's provider since 2010
- life, accidental death and dismemberment, and long- and short-term disability coverage through Mutual of Omaha, in place since 2017
- the employee assistance program through Alliance Work Partners, in place since 2019
Staff wrote that every increase was already included in the fiscal 2026-27 budget the council adopted, and they recommend approval. The item would let the town manager sign all the renewal documents.
