Neto Drives In Runs

Neto delivered the offensive spark for the Los Angeles Angels with five hits and seven runs batted in, helping his team dismantle the Houston Astros by a final score of 18-3. The performance included two home runs and a double, showcasing a complete batting effort against a struggling Houston pitching staff.

The game began with early momentum shifts. In the first inning, Neto singled to right to score Meckler, giving Los Angeles an early lead. However, the Astros quickly answered when Wade Jr. scored on a throwing error by third baseman Grissom, followed by Alvarez scoring on a wild pitch by Angels starter Grayson Rodriguez.

Early Inning Surge

Los Angeles regained control in the second inning. Grissom singled to center to score Ballesteros for Houston, but the Angels responded immediately. Heineman executed a sacrifice bunt to advance Grissom, who scored on Lowe’s groundout that was initially ruled safe but overturned after an Angels challenge. Frazier then doubled to center to bring Lowe home, extending the lead.

The fourth inning proved decisive. Neto singled to left to score Frazier, followed by a two-run double from Ballesteros that scored Meckler and Trout. Grissom added another run with a double to left, scoring both Ballesteros and Neto. The Angels continued to pile on runs in the fifth, with Schanuel scoring on a groundout, before Neto homered to center for three more runs.

Pitching Performance

Grayson Rodriguez earned the win for Los Angeles, pitching seven innings of scoreless baseball. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out six batters. Blake Weiman closed out the game with two innings of work, allowing one earned run and three strikeouts.

Houston’s pitching struggled throughout the contest. Peter Lambert took the loss after allowing nine runs on eight hits in 3.2 innings. Bryan King contributed five earned runs in 1.1 innings, while Tatsuya Imai allowed two earned runs over three frames. LaMonte Wade Jr. pitched one inning, giving up two earned runs.

Final Score and Records

Neto added another double in the seventh inning to score Trout and Siri. In the ninth, Guzman homered to left to score Peraza, and Smith hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Varsho for Houston’s final run.

The Angels improved their record to 51-77, while the Astros fell to 64-64. The game was played at Daikin Park in front of 20,934 fans.
